How to handle stress?

How do we deal with day-to-day stressors without driving ourselves crazy?

It seems that stress is as natural as happiness these days. There’s always something that needs to be done, places that we need to go, and people we need to fit into our schedule. It can be overwhelming for some when they come face to face with their daily tasks and are met with a tower long to-do list. For others, they may find themselves able to tackle the day but mindlessly, to the point where things begin to blur. Either way and in between, stress is something that can often make us feel as if our back is against the wall.

First, give yourself time to decompress. That could mean keeping work away from home, following a schedule, and getting your body moving. Though having a balance between work and the rest of your life is important, there’s more to it than that. It’s about being kind to yourself. Do you find your mind going a million miles a minute even when you’re no longer busy? It’s ok to find something mindless to occupy your time. Preparing a meal you’ve always wanted to try? Your favorite TV show that you’ve seen a thousand times? A walk in the park with your favorite album or audiobook?


We’re not meant to be robots who stick to a rigid routine that drains us of our energy, all with our anxiety at an eight. Your life is yours, what shouldn’t you do? Give yourself the space to enjoy the smallest moments, don’t wish a second of your life away.
